I was driving to work yesterday and was startled by a Heron stood in the middle of the road. The size of a small person, heron is an alarming creature to see outside of her usual habitat.
As I drove past, heron spread her enormous wings and took flight.
I can’t help but notice when the universe tries to get my attention in such dramatic ways.
So what message does heron bring?
The first thing you’ll notice is her stillness. Standing patiently, searching within, much like the Hermit in the Tarot. The physical similarities of the two images cannot be denied. Both figures (heron & Hermit) carry a message of the value of introspection and self reflection. The sacred pause; the power and importance of meditation.
When it is time to act, heron is swift, direct and intentional. If you’ve found yourself in a time of “pause”, held in your cocoon, mid transformation, the appearance of heron heralds your readiness to take action. Your hibernation is near complete. Draw down your final inspirations for where you want your life to journey to, what you truly value, ready yourself for movement.
Throughout many ancient cultures heron was regarded as a messenger from god. Her heavenly presence inspired spiritual growth.
Combining the elements of air and water; the cerebral and the emotional. The alchemy of the two emphasises flow. Surrendering to the currents, not struggling against the natural order, but being carried effortlessly.
Spreading her impressive wings, heron lifts off. If she’s appeared for you or this message resonates, then it is time to unfurl your wings. You’re gong to stand out. You’re not for blending into the crowd. Beat that drum as only you can. Collectively we NEED your unique rhythm reverberating into our consciousness.
As I’ve edged ever closer to my independence, I relish my alone time. My time in silent meditation, finding my light within like The Hermit in his cave… readying myself to step outside to shine my lantern for others to witness. Friday mornings are my favourite. Totally alone, an hour of ritual and connection to spirit. No wonder that was the day that this notoriously solitary bird decided to check in with me. Reminding me to have confidence in my skills. That my wings are indeed magnificent and strong, they can carry me forward into the creation of my new life of freedom.
Is this where you find yourself?
There’s definitely an energy of new beginnings at this time of year. September into October is a favourite time of mine. This final third of the year, in fact, is enormously activating for me. A season of change; standing between two worlds. Growth and initiation into the new. Maybe its the back to school conditioning of September? New stationery, new timetable, getting organised (hello Virgo season). A final push to achieve the year’s goals. Yes. It all lines up. Of course it does. Heron’s arrival is so very timely and I give thanks for the serendipity.
Heron says your efforts will bring success.
Stay the course and hold your vision.
Grow beyond what is expected from you.
